Béla Bartók is one of the most famous Hungarian composers.His work as a performer, researcher and teacher forms a cornerstone of Hungarian musical literature,and his works are still played today in the world’s great concert halls.Bartók’s research focused on the traditional folk music of the Carpathian Basin, and in parallel on the folk music heritage of the nationalities living alongside the Hungarian people, convinced as he was that we are able to understand the treasures of our own culture only if it is interpreted in the context of those living around us.
